Money question

From what i've picked up on this forum, it would seem that the way to go with money for Bali is to take along all the cash i expect to spend as $100 notes and then have an ATM card and credit card as backup. The $100 notes are then changed into Rupiah as I need it. Also, I should take $50 note to pay VOA and then I'll have change in Rupiah for any incidental costs early in the trip.
Does this all sound correct?
