what you say about 'whatever reasons and justifications and motivations you find on "their" side, look for the same, or analogous on "our" side'. This was the point I was trying to make about fundamentalism in the west as analogous to Muslim fundamentalism.
One thing that really pi**es me off at the moment is the idea that the current govt donated 10 million dollars to the Katrina disaster (in which 1000 died) and, according to yesterday's news, only 5 million to Pakistan where 30 million have died. Isn't this the time to show Muslim people that we actually care about their welfare? Wouldn't this be a good way of trying to break down some barriers? I don't think I've ever felt such disgust towards our govt.
Australia has 6.5% of the world's resources and .5% of it's population. We can afford to share. If we demonise half of the world then that's a convenient reason to justify not sharing.
