I bought a pretty secure hard shell suitcase especially for travelling with my laptop (which makes it tax deductible too!). It has a combo lock as well as keys. I put a laptop security cable thru the pull out handle hardware inside and attach the laptop to that.
Last time I was in Bali though, the room safe was big enough to take the laptop so I put it in there.
