We have just returned from Bali & while there had the opportunity to go with the Director of Bali Kids for part day, to look at work carried out in bali. The director is Balinese & organises many orphanages & also works with different Dept to secure jobs & places needy people in housing, i asked of the beggers & was told they are bused in every day from surrounding villages & are an organised business,We were advised do not give money, this only encourages them not to seek work & the practise of rent a baby is true, most are not their own & if you look carefully the child is actually very healthy & so are the beggers, we were advised there are people who truely are beggars but it is best to offer food not money the true beggars will greatly appreciate, also these organised beggers have been offered jobs but refused to take up, the director advises they do have welfare officers (not called that but act in same way)who go out to the streets & help the real beggers where funding & resources can as they are limited, we were able to also see some of the work done by these oficers & the people they help secure work or get their skills reconised & get them a spot in a hotel to sell their items really do want work & greatful for the opportunity to get off the streets & work. So please help them acheive their efforts & dont give money to beggers or get in touch with the organisations who can assist in getting your donation to the correct people.
