use the $900 allowance for goods that you intend to sell.
On your imigration card you will be asked if your visit was business or personal. YOu can put personal and run the risk of not being stopped, but if you have heaps of sarongs you may be treated with suspicion. Heaps of people do it and get away with it, i.e, if you just have a heap of different stuff, but if you are going into business, you dont want to get a black mark against your name, before you even start.
If you put business you are allowed about $150 to $200 before you have to start paying duty. You can leave the goods at the airport, get a customs broker to fill out the form for you,($150) and customs will work out the duty and you go back and pick up the stuff later.
Most home furnishings are 5% duty, but clothing is I think 17.5% at the moment.
Hope this helps.
