JRB means "just back report" & i feel like i have just written one below....
We went recently 1st time for 2 weeks..
the package deal is a good idea to start with. I booked 5 nites Legian, 5 ubud (pay 4 get 5th free) & left the last 5 free. Liked legian so much rebooked at the Puri Raja for last 5 nites.
Legian was 1/2 hr walk along beach or $1.40 cab to kuta, which we only went to for the department stores...In Legian I found that heaps of shops eateries & night life there for us.I am 40ish so that area suited me age wise & not to ragey or too quiet.
Loved Ubud..after doing 3 tours didn't leave enough time for me to wander around art, eateries & get into the place more. So yes i am returning as i feel i have alot of unfinished business in Bali.
I took all my ($100 a day )spending money $100 notes & boss mans cedit card ( used for trips & hotel bills, yeah right )I exchanged money at hotel in legian & at a small shop opposite in ubud. Rates were O.K. & if not by afew cents don't care as it took out the B.S. that is mentioned alot here. Yes i was suss on having so much cash, but invested in a money belt & all hotels have safes. So it was only during travel that on me.
From the package deal had a travel guy meet us at the airport, which won't do again, but was worth the money a the time, as arrived late evening & had been travelling for 12 hours.
Surf cloths ..partner liked discovery mall best & I liked Surfer Girl (Kuta) Also you will pass lotsa surf shops just wandering around.
