I told my friends last week not to bother getting US$ as we have paid with AUD and got the change in RP - really easy and you have your taxi fare without having to go to the money changers etc. We also paid once with credit card
No problems with either.
They mentioned this to their TA who said - absolutely not - they could not pay in AUD - they were told that if they wanted to pay in AUD - they would have to go to a Money changers at the airport (in Bali), change their money then go back to VOA which is totally incorrect.
THey ended up getting the US$ as their TA was very insistent - but her info was wrong.
As it turned out they cancelled their trip to Bali this week and now have to change the US$ back to AUD
We found it easier to pay in AUD
