yes apparently you can, I always paid in Aus $ though. You will probably get charged a cash advance on your card, although you could ? that on your return. Would you want to be giving your credit card details at the start of your trip to someone...never know what might go on, seeing as they will know you are out of your comfort zone and you may not check it until you get back to Aus.
