we have brought these back before no problem. Best advise is to shake them out, buy a large garbage bag the day befroe you leave. pu a cardboard box in the centre and put anything that may be suss for bugs inside it and empty a can of insect spray into it. Tie it up and seal it for a day. That should kill any bugs. Customs don't care about dead bugs only live ones
