After a tough week of heavy thinking and negotiating, it has been decided today that we will continue on with our trip in November as planned.
I was (almost) always keen to stick with our original plans (Dynasty from 16 - 27 November) but in light of us having three small kids (5,5,and 9) and family prone to heart attacks, my wife wanted to cancel and go to Fiji or somewhere like that.
I managed to convince her to wait a while before deciding.
Later in the week,(after reading lots of bits of forum news i had printed and left lying in strategic places around the house) she decided that perhaps we should still go to Bali, as long as we went somewhere quieter, like Sanur.
I was wrapt just to think that we could still show the kids the delights of Bali, and do all of the things we had waited so long for, but at the same time I REALLY had my heart set on the Dynasty.
(You know what it's like when you get something in your head, and nothing else will do? I've never been to the Dynasty, so it doesn't really make sense to be so attached to it!)
Well, today she came home and said that she'd had a re-think, and we should continue with our original plans, and not let 'them' dictate our lives.
Today feels like a whole new day. I can now start counting down again with eager anticipation, (even if still tinged with a little nervousness, which I'm sure will disappear within a few hours of landing.)
Thank you so much to all on here for your endless advice. This forum is a gold mine, and especially so in these troubled times.
Look forward to seeing some of you at Gracie Kellys (we won't be there till November, though), at the pool bar, and on the beach for that game of cricket and/or soccer.
Can't wait!
