If you are talking about the wooden lanterns with the coconut fibre thatched roof, well yes I have brought these back a couple of times. You need to make sure you bang them on the ground to get out all the loose dirt etc. I even put mine in the bathtub in bali & washed them to get more dirt out. They need to be really clean for customs. Customs bang them on the desk & if dirt is dropping off thats when they won't let them through. You can find these lanterns just about anywhere in the street stalls that are selling wooden products. I paid about AUD 8.00 for one.
Funny thing is, I recently threw mine out as birds were pulling at all the fibres or a cat doing its claws on them. Not sure, but they were ruined!
