We're booked on free tickets using miles. There is no penalty to cancel at any time before departure, but always a US $50.00 fee per ticket for redeposit of the miles to our accounts. Our hotels are reserved but we haven't paid anything on them, nor do we need to until check out. So...we are free to cancel at anytime.

I can't say yet if we are going or not. The intellectual voice in my head tells me that the risk now and in the future is the same as it ever was. There is no greater risk now because there were bombs...it is our perceived risk that is greatly increased.

The emotional voice in my head is screaming "are you nuts!?" to go to Bali now. I imagine losing my daugther to terrroists because of my decision to carry on with the trip. Losing my daughter is far, far worse to me than all of us being killed, so my worst case scenario in my head is having her killed and me survive. Likely scenario...no. And I know it. But the "what ifs" are what really get us all I think.

Then I remember our trip last Christmas and New Year, which was 16 days of magic. It was better than Disney, the best trip we've ever taken (and we travel 2 -3 times a year, so that's saying something). We were all enchanted by Bali, by the place, the scenery, the friends we made, the smells...we are/were??? so looking forward to being back there.

So I'm letting my internal voices have it out day after day, with no hope in sight yet of reaching any conclusion whatsoever. I hope you have an easier time.
