Day 4 for us was Grandfinal Day!! It was going to be huge. Our party of about 12 were joined by some more friends of mine making us about 25.
All of us avid Eagles supporters.
I went to Bali prepared with my balloons and streamers and the face paint. In Kuta the evning before we found some people wearing new Eagles shirts which had to have. Got taken to the shop but alas there were none there. My friend eventually found some the next morning at the stadium bar.
We had booked a table for 15 at the Gula Gula Bar (part of the Baleka Hotel). This was right across the road from the Jayakarta so we figured it wasn't too far from home and we shouldn't get lost from there.
We arrived at the bar about 10.30am to start setting up. To there credit the bar had put streamers of both teams up to get into the spirit. We just added to them.
We were the only Eagles supporters there. Most of the others were from NSW but not even AFL followers. They were waiting for the rugby final next. Needless to say we all got very vocal. Luckily there was a pool right outside cos it was very hot inside.
The Gula Gula bar could close for a month and keep up their takings average. They couldn't keep up with Bintang (or keep it cold). They told us they had never had so many people in there at one time. Well done guys!! We had a good day.
Of course history tells us that we lost!! Of well we needed more Bintang to drown our sorrows. We went back to the pool area at the Jayakarta and spent the rest of the arvo/evening frquenting Wayan's esky on the beach. We even drank him dry. We eventually moved to the beach and the guys tried to teach the boys some new songs on the gutair. Quite an atmosphere was built!! What a good day.
Bed by 7.30pm I think we had tea!!
Day 5 : Feeling surpsingly good~~
Thought it was time to get some shopping done so we hopped on the shuttle to Kuta square to go to Mataharris. Just potted around made a few small purchases nothing to much though. Looked round the shoe department wishing for a smaller foot.
Met up with the guys and decided to head to the Bounty for lunch. Our kids were planning to be there for New Year so we thought we'd check it out.
Very nice simple lunch. My hubby says great club sandwich. Bought some DVD's across from the Bounty.
Taxi home. Hubby had a rest whilst i decided that if i didn't do some shopping for the kids i would be in trouble.
I walked up the beach road to Padma and down to Garlic Lane. Headed to The Bali Shop owned by Wayan. He did fixed price. I am so over the batering. Got my billabong shorts for 40 000rp. Ordered a couple of tops for me and bought some King Kong Roxy singlets for me and King Kong Billabong shirts and singlets for hubby.
I found that a lot more shops had King kong up to 5xl in a greater variey of styles. Not just the plain old boring ones.
We went up to the seaside rest (i think) for tea tonight. Just outside KP hotel 1 up from the Jayakarta. Ver nice, very busy and quite upmarket but surprising reasonable with prices.
We all ordered cocktails. I think the bintang thing was weaning a little. No-one could drink them they were so potent!!
Duty free night tonight. Ended up chatting by the pool drinking DF till about 1am. Nice night.
