I have just got back from Bali - very inexpected trip, so I found Grand Bali Beach on asia rooms website. It looked such good value & 5* well, where could we go wrong & at such short notice we thought we were in luck!
Well, we got there and our 1st impressions were not great - the photos we had seen of the hotel must have been taken years ago because it appeared to be very run down!
We checked in and the room we were given (tower wing) absolutley stank! It was damp and dirty - so we asked to change rooms and they did, I have to say the 2nd room wasnt much better but Jetlag had kicked in and we gave up for the day. The staff were great though.
The hotel pool was manic, couldnt get a sunbed the next morning for the amount of package tour groups that were there & then I went to my room and it had been broken into! Purse stolen etc - yes this was our 1st day in so called Paradise.
There is a main sewage pipe that runs from the hotel to the sea - disgusting and the food was diabolical.
I Love Sanur - and I WILL be returning there time and time again (regarless of bmbs) but I will NOT be staying here again.
We did pack our bags the 1st afternoon after being upset and fed up with the whole situation and we booked into the Sanur Beach Hotel, just along the beach and I have to say this was the most beautiful hotel &
-cheaper than the Grannd Bali beach
-staff lovely & friendly
-you couldnt fault the rooms so clean & very very homely
-fantastic for children
-food was lovely
-not expensive
-beautiful grounds
I think if you can & it doesnt cost too much change hotels!
If not have a wonderful holiday & i hope you have a much better time than I did.
