Day 2 saw us head on a day tour that our friends had organised. We were heading to Git Git, Lovina and the hot springs. We did this in January as a family and enjoyed it so we opted to go again. Our only concern was eating at the buffets at Lovina (got a nasty bug last time).
We stopped at Bedgul F&V Market on the way up. I reckon these are the best markets.
We bought cashews (that are the best), fresh strawberries and bananas. Strawberries are beautiful!! This fruit was to be lunch if there was no option in Lovina. We were even recognised by the man who has a stall in the back corner of the markets. King Kong sizes!!! Remebered selling to my hubby and had sizes up to about 6xl. Bought a couple including a 'balibong' instead of billabong.
After this nest stop was the Bedgul temple. An awesome place!!! On the lake. There was a group of boys playing music on traditional instruments. Unreal.
Next stop Git Git!! In January we were taken to the number 3 Git git. Had no problems there. Walked up bush tracks but good tracks and had a spectacular view.
This time number 2 Git Git which i presume is the main entrance. A concrete path and lots and lots of huge steps. Market stall all the way along. We bough a couple of things from our guides wifes stall and the little girls selling necklaces for 1000rp but otherwise had to fend the others off on the way there and back.
The waterfall was great. Some even swam and said the water was freezing. Me i needed to get my breathe back for the walk back!!!
The boys got to top and made one stall owners day by wanting 8 cold bintangs twice!!
My opinion is that the view from number 3 was better. Not so many stalls and only the family to contend with in buying something.
I really did get sick of saying no, no, no.
Next stop Lovina beach for lunch!!
We told our driver to take us where we could get a sandwich no buffet.
They couldn't do it. We eventually stopped we asked if we could order from the menu not buffet and they said yes. When the 12 of us got into the restaurant they begged us to have the buffet cos it would take an hour to make anything form the menu. We refused and and said we wanted a sandwich. Reluctantly they agreed. They were not happy. We ordered very simply spring roll fries and a couple of jaffles. PLus a sandwich tomato & Onion (on the menu). It came with lettuce & fried onion only. They missed the tomato completely.
As a side from this. One of our party became quite ill at this rest. She ended up leaving her new digital camera and good sunnies there and didn't realise till the next day when she was better. Our diver rang them for her and was told they were there. He then drove back up there for us. ONly to be told that the sunnies wern't there and that he would have to pay 50 000rp for the camera. Bit steep we thought but happey to at least have the camera back.
Off to the hot spings which i love but spent only a short time there cos we now had 3 unwell people. The quickest way home was called for. Its never quick when someone is sick all the way home!! Home by 7pm.
My hubby & I left the others and walked up to Papa's for tea. I had the cesare salad but they wouldn't serve chicken that night. We saw about the bird flu the next day and presumed that was why.
Friday Day 3 : My mission was to find The Pub. Armed with the address we set off wandering down back lanes of Legian. We asked where it was and was told it must be in Benesari not Bunisari. So we wandered around to no avail!! I sms my dad and got no reply so we eventually got in a taxi to head back to hotel. We told our taxi driver where we were trying to go and he said its in KUta. Lets go. Everone was telling me how good the sates were and i wanted to try them.
The Pub definetly the place that serves the coldest Bintang in Bali!!! Wonderful sates served with a soya sauce instead of peanut sauce.
Made the barman makes rings and bracelets from aussie coins so we ordered some as novelty for our sons.
IO ahd had ample bingtang by about 2.30pm and needed toget back to the hotel
That night having sobered up sufficiently we met some friends at Bubba Gumps for tea. The frozen strawberry daquiris were to die for!!!
I love that place.
