While visiting Bali in July we spent the day with our driver Leroy who offers a day with his family for a balinese feast in their private home!
The morning starts with a trip to the market to buy supplies and ingredients for the meal. This included 1 pig, 1 chicken, 1 duck and other cooking ingredients. After the market we headed back to the family compound to start prepearing for the days feast.
This included preparing the animals. (Which i could not bring myself to watch, but the others were amazed) It was amazing how long is spent to prepare for the meal! The whole family was helping out for most of the day! And we were welcome to join in any part of this we wished to!
As we waited for the pig to cook we headed of for a quick swim at the local waterfall. A quick drive. Or short walk will get you there.
Then back to the family home for a good feed!
After dinner we were treated to a traditional balinese dance by Leroys daughter and her friends from her dancing class which just about brought tears to my eyes!
Probably my best ever experience in Bali so far!
We also did many other great tours with Leroy.
Anyone please feel free to email me and i can pass on Leroys details.
