Unfortunately news is about getting headlines and selling papers. The most sensational headline gets the money.
Reporters tell what sells. People also like their 2 minutes of fame and some will say anything to get on the news.
A friend of mine ( a young soldier going to Iraq) was interviewed in his home with his family the day before he left. The crew were there for 2 hours. They kept asking questions. Hounding him really with are you afraid, what if something happens to you etc. He is a very strong young man. After nearly 2 hours he eventually broke down.
Which 5 minutes of footage did they showe on the news. Him srying of course. It sells!
