to a few Balinese & expat friends - I'll just relay onbe story for now -
I could hardly believe when I spoke to a close girlfriend that works at Jensen's in Jalan Bunjungsari /Singosari that she & the rest of the staff did NOT hear or know about the bomb in Kuta until about 15 > 20 minutes afterwards.It is only 5 minutes from Kuta Square,she said it was a normal noisy Saturday with loud music & lots of customers.She said that within 10 Minutes after the bomb went off their where police & ambulances all over the place & the staff & patrons didn't know why until they started getting text messages or other people came & told them !
She said she & all her friends are feeling very angry & upset at the moment.She said many Aussies have left & it is a lot quieter than it has been for a long time,she said it is mainly people who she knows as regular travellers to Bali & customers of the restaurant who are staying & she is seeing in the streets & at work.
I am only passing on info my girlfriend told me so don't shoot me down ,I am only passing on what a dear friend said - - She said many of the young Balinese people are very angry ,upset & very worried about their future & their jobs.They are frightened that tourism will slow down & they will lose their jobs.She said it HA happened before & they are scared.They are wondering WHAT they did wrong for this to happen to them again !
She said they are scared in case it happens again.She said they feel & ARE Indonesian BUT they feel different as Balinese people.She said Balinese people want only peace for their country & safety for themselves & their visitors to Bali.She said that her friends feel as IF some other Indonesian people are jealous of the comforts than Western tourism brings to Bali & the Balinese.She said locals felt the recent petrol rises were going to hard but this recent bombing may just be too much to handle.She said they feel as IF others want to take away their democracy & any rights they have fought to win for themselves & their country.
