You make some good points beenthere but some simple maths shows that a mass departure didn't occur.
DFAT says there was roughly 9,500 in Bali on Saturday night. So far Qantas has put on 4 extra flights with a full capacity of around 240 people each for a total of 960 spaces. Neither Air Paradise or Garuada have flown any extra flights.
So even with the normal schedules of the three carriers you are still looking at least 6,500 Australians still on the island at this time.
No doubt there were people coming home short of their intended stay but based on the capacity between Australia & Bali they just could not of transported more than 3,000 people to this stage.
