We are not talking about boy soldiers, or resistance fighters opposing an oppressive foreign occupation. We are talking about brainwashed [adult] idiots who kill innocent people at random on behalf of evil cowards who hide in the background.

And I would strongly suspect that, in at least some cases, their families and friends would know what was going on and may even have encouraged it. What about the families who know that their young people are attending meetings run by extremists? What do they think it may lead to?

I would suggest that any family members or friends of the killers, who can be proven to have advance knowledge of the murderous intentions, should be convicted of being accessories and aiding and abetting murder. And the penalties should be appropriately severe.
