and cant believe what has happened. I went with my sister-in-law and 2 friends and spent a great 11 days there. I admit I felt safer in Bali walking around and in particular at night than I do in Adelaide. My husband cant beleive it when I say I would go back. The people are amongst the kindest, gentlist (hope spelt right) I have met. There was no hint of anything going on.
My heart goes out to a nation still rebuilding itself from the last time. We met a lovely lady at the Puri Etnik hotel who gave us an insight to how things were after the 2002 bombings. They had to live weeks without power. Many businesses closed and people had to return to their villages just to survive. The Aussie village Kuta as they know it was a ghost town.
I agree the government need to crack down on this sort of thing but as my driver explained the new President is very popular with the locals as he has started making a difference with gambling and drugs.
People need to make up their own minds and do what is right for them and not be swayed by anyone in their decisions to go to Bali or not. I think if you do decide to go then if you are very sensible about what you do and where you go (no different than being at home) then you are already on the right track.
We live in a world where the reality of attacks could happen anytime any where.
Will give a proper JBR later.
