After the last bombing when we went to Bali many Balinese were feeling guilt towards tourists because this happenned on their island and apologies were frequent. Of course no one blamed them.
After a couple of days I became aware that the Muslims were feeling a double dose of guilt because people of their faith had done this. It's easy to forget that the huge majority of Muslims on Bali just want a peaceful life and to earn enough to feed their families and have at least a reasonable life.
I remember the Muslim taxi driver I was talking to who with tears in his eyes said "True Muslims not like this. True Muslims are peaceful. These people are not true Muslims. They pretend to be but they are just********." Many Muslim friends and aquaintances were literally hanging their heads in shame. A shame that was not and is not theirs' to bare.
