how fast things change - sponsorship

As some of you may have read I was so excited last week because my family and I had made an appointment to visit Noel after deciding that we would like to become a sponsor family for a child in Bali.

Well as planned we did visit Noel and we are now sponsoring a 6yr old girl at SD3 Sembung and can't wait to visit her in November. My two boys are just as excited to visit her as I am, they have been telling everyone they are going to meet a special friend when they go to Bali.

After visiting Noel my family and I headed off on a few days away for our school holiday break incorporating a little business along the way, I couldn't wait to get back to my trusty little computer and share my exciting news with everyone at BTF. All I could think about while I was away was our new little sponsor child - what does she look like, is she from a small or large family and what can we spoil her with when we visit, what are her favourite things to do. (Trying of course not to get too carried away and scare the poor kid when we arrive).

She is a perfect age for us, my boys are 5 and 7 so she fits right between them so they boys should be able to relate to her - well kind of.

I keep wondering what she thinks about going to school and if it is what she thought being a "big Kid" and going to schoold was like as their school year starts in July she would probably be just starting to settle in. I know both of my boys were very excited to become "big boys" and start school. They both started kindy (school) the year they turned 5yrs old. They just love it, I wonder if our new little friend thinks the same things even though I know the facilities at the school will not be anywhere near what we have provided for our kids here.

Of course while we were away news of the bombing broke and it put a big downer on everything - how fast things can change!

We talked about it and we are still going in November - kids too. Some may say it is selfish to take them and after reading a number of the postings here I can understand why some people decide not to go or to say it is selfish to take young kids but hey who is to say if we stay home something won't go wrong here. We have been plannng our family holiday for some time now and there is no way anyone is going to spoilt it, especially now that we have that extra special reason to go.

If any one is going to visit the school I mentioned earlier in this text before mid November and would be willing to take a photo of our sponsor child for me I would really appreciate it, I would like to send her a photo of our little family before we get there too. it might make our first meeting a little easier for her if she recognises us for a photo. If anyone can help out you post a message I will forward my e-mail details on so that we can make direct contact.

If anyone else has recently sponsored a child from this school and would like a photo I would be happy to try helping out when we go - I am not sure of the school policy on taking photos of the kids but if they say it is okay I would be happy to take a few (with in reason)to pass on.
