I expect things look a lot scarier from where you all are (all that detailed news coverage) than from here in Bali (outside of the immediate attack areas anyway). Personally, I'd be more concerned about travelling about with my kids in vans/cars without seatbelts than anything else - we had a near miss in Sanur that had our taxi driver quite shook up... weren't we lucky that he just happened to be the very best driver we've had the whole trip so far... the taxi, not unusually, had no seatbelts so even the smallest collision could cause pretty serious injury.
