The Australian government can't operate in Bali. They are the Australian government, not the Bali government.
They can't tail people, do stakeouts, intercept communications, arrest people, interrogate people, etc.
If they had specific information, they would pass it on to the authorities in Bali and it would be up to them to act. Did they pass specific information over to Bali? Who knows.
The best they can do is warn people not to go.
If people don't listen to that, they don't listen to it.
If you listen to many people on this forum, they are advising people to go because "you can't give in to the terrorists".
Others just want to cover their ears and eyes and pretend everything is OK.
The folks who see a real issue seem to be in the minority on this forum.
Well, I don't know about you but I'm not putting my family at risk just because I want to "not give in" to some terrorist in Indonesia.
If someone is outside my front door with a gun at anyone who leaves, I'm not walking out "just to spite them".
How about we get the guy with the gun out from in front of my front door. Then we'll talk about me walking out of it.
The Bali people and government need to step up to the task and take care of this problem. They simply aren't doing enough to stop this type of thing.
