two most enduring memories I have of last time we were there: 1. a lady over the road from vila rumah manis did my laundry every day. I bought her small daughter a little pair of shoes. the mother ran inside and came out with a bag of local fruit because she wanted to give me something. then she showed me photos of her daughter at school. she wasn't interested only in my money.
2. We passed an old lady on the road that runs by the beach. she was foraging in a bin for food, and ignored us as we passed. I had gone about 50 yards, then stopped. I went back and gave her 5000rp (whooppee) and I can still remember her big toothless grin.
How can I forget people like that, and I haven't even scratched the surface.
