I'm a Londoner born and bred and was in London on 7th July, and also caught up in an anti-terorist armed response incident after 21st July. I also remember well the bombings of the IRA.
I have also been lucky enough to spend time in Kosova and Sarajevo.
I am not a person of inordinate courage. Just a curious (female) traveller.
On Tuesday I am going to Bali (Kuta, Ubud) for the first time, for a month. I would not DREAM of cancelling this trip. We must, must must not get caught up in a culture of fear, dear fellow travellers.
Let's not aid our governements who place such places as Bali on 'tourist-blacklists', debilitaitng their economies even more.
If the fates decree you're going be killed by a terrorist attack, there is very little you can do to avoid it. Let us assume, for the very very vast majority, that it is not our time to die, at least not in this way. Statistically one has more chance of being run over by a bus.
So let our thoughts go to those injured, and those who have lost loved ones.. .and lives. But we must go to Bali, in good spirits, if that was our plan.
