My daughter is currently in Thailand, and due to fly to Bali in 2 weeks. She will meet up with her brother and his girlfriend. My daughter came within a wisker of losing her life at the last bombing.
Everynight she was in Bali, she and a friend would be at the Sari club by 10pm. On this terrible night as she was leaving the Bounty hotel, a couple of friends asked her to come and have a few drinks in their room before they all go to the Sari Club. Lucky she did, she was one of the lucky ones to come home, pysical untouched, mentally hurting. It took me a week of mental anguish to understand that it was not her time. She has chosen to go back every year since.
I would rather she and her brother do not go, but no matter where you go, as a parent you worry. When she decided to go back for the memorial service, both my wife and I argued with her not to go, but she wanted closure. She has been every year since. My wife and I decided to go and see Bali for ourselves. My wife and have been twice and planning another trip in March 06,love the place. the BASTARDS are not going to keep us away. Everytime I drive the car I have a greater risk of getting killed or injured, than of getting killed in a bomb in Bali.
