As it says in the article, Reebok wanted the award recipients to do a bunch of promotional stuff before actually handing over the cash. That would have left her open to accusations of hypocrisy which may have diminished the power of the statement she wanted to make.
Otherwise taking the money and using it to fight the evil who gave it to you isn't a bad idea. Any idea how I can get Johnny Howard to fork over $50,000?
