Day 13 - Tuesday 25th October
Well I awoke at 8 am and had no idea where I was. Suddenly our room had flipped and we now had single beds. Hang on I didn't recognise any of the luggage etc in this room either. Thankfully Mark was in the next bed and quickly filled me in on the room swap. He had great pleasure filling me in on how the evening ending. How embarrassed was I. At least I had not vomited in the girls' room. Needless to say I was a very sick girl.
We headed back to our room to see if the girls' were awake as I was dying to get out of these disgusting smelling clothes and have a shower and freshen up. Thank goodness the girls' were somewhat awake. We spent a few minutes sitting on the balcony while they all had a great laugh filling me in on the prior evening's events in graphic detail. I then departed into our room to get out of these clothes and have that much needed shower. After a shower I was very quick to pop 2 Panadol extra and 2 beroccas. We then headed down for breakfast as Mark was starving. No buffet for me this morning but I did force down some vegemite on toast. I suddenly had all these people who knew me and were asking how I was feeling today. I off course had no idea who they were.
After breakfast we wandered slowly down Poppies II to Gede's Laundry to pick up our previous delivery of washing and of course drop off all the soiled clothes from last night and any other washing. The washing we picked up cost us 20 900 Rp (AUS $2.79) and the new load we dropped off was only 10 600 Rp (AUS $1.41). Gee if I could have laundry washed and ironed for this price at home I would never wash again. As I was feeling rather ordinary this morning we headed back to the hotel so that I could sleep some more while Mark watched DVD's and played PS2.
At 1 pm I resurfaced feeling much better. We headed down Poppies II to Bali Corner Café to get some lunch. Mark had fish and chips 22 000 Rp (AUS $2.93) with a coke 5 000 Rp (AUS $0.67) while I opted for nasi goreng 14 000 Rp (AUS $1.87) and a coke. Total bill came to 46 000 Rp (AUS $6.13) but as usual we just rounded it up to 50 000 Rp (AUS $6.67). We headed back to the Bounty Hotel where we met up with the two girls from Perth. One of the girls had told us yesterday that she could get us a Holden's shirt for Mark for 30 000 Rp (AUS $4.00) so we had asked her to grab one for us. Well she delivered. Apparently she shops at Wayan's shop which is on the dogleg of Poppies II at shop 22. Wayan does not actually have them but she gets them for you.
At 3.00 pm we all decided to catch a blue cab to gold street in Denpasar as I was looking for gold plated necklaces for the 3 Face to Face pendants we had purchased. We quickly realised that the only thing they have here is real gold and although I would have loved to have bought these it just was not in our budget at this stage of our trip. It is just another thing I will have to come back to Bali for.
From here we headed to Adopta Co-op as I needed to have some sashes embroidered for our girls upcoming baptism. Left them there with written instructions of what I would like with someone to ring me tomorrow to let me know price as the girls there at the time were not able to speak English that well and couldn't really understand what I needed done.
Back into the blue cab who had waited for us here and onto Dogs Tail located at Jalan Raya 4C Seminyak to find a pressie for our two much loved dogs. Mark protested this purchase but quickly realised he had lost this battle. I pick up a bintang tank top 89 000 Rp (AUS $11.87) for Chester our male pomeranian and a ceremonial lace top 97 000 Rp (AUS $12.93) for Chloe our female maltese/sh*tzu. Total for both 186 000 Rp (AUS $24.80) and may I say the dogs look gorgeous in them. I tried to find Mark a matching bintang tank top just to rub it in that bit further but without success.
This is the smaller of the two Dogs Tail stores along this street. On the way back we did notice a larger store which is closer to Kuta. We had our cab driver drop us off at the beach end of Poppies II. We all walked up Poppies II and stopped in at Wayan's shop which is located in the corner of the group of shops on the dogleg (shop 22). Wayan gives good prices without having to bargain. She has a clothes store but also does hair braiding, extensions and nails.
Well a big buy up was done here. I bought 3 knitted type t-shirts for myself, 2 small badboy t-shirts for a couple of our nephews, a small ripcurl t-shirt for our 1 year old niece, 2 spiderman shirts for a couple of our nephews, a small Bali print shirt for another nephew, a pair of billabong boardshorts for Mark, 2 under the counter billabong tank tops - one for myself and one for our oldest daughter, 2 under the counter billabong t-shirts for myself and our oldest daughter, a long sleeve billabong top for Mark, a long sleeve o'neill top for Mark, a long sleeve hot tuna top for Mark, a long sleeve bulldog fish top for Mark, a black bintang tank top for Mark, 2 under the counter billabong tank tops for Mark, 2 under the counter billabong t-shirts for Mark and a layered white mini skirt for our oldest daughter. All up 760 000 Rp (AUS $101.33).
While here we also stopped in at Leo's DVD store which is 3 doors down from Wayan's shop in the same group of shops to get a couple of extra DVD's. For 6 DVD's 42 000 Rp (AUS $5.60). Here they will also tell you if they are good copies or not if you ask.
We then headed back to the hotel and along the way I picked up the second small pink roll type overnight bag for our other daughter 70 000 Rp (AUS $9.33). We dropped all of this back to our room and then I ducked out again to pick up the 10 name bracelets I had ordered yesterday for all of our nieces. Cost me 220 000 Rp (AUS $29.33) for all 10 from a stall on the left hand side of Poppies II opposite the wall if walking towards Jalan Legian. I had to bargain pretty hard for these though. He also wanted Australian gold coins but I didn't have any.
Back to the room again where we met up with the two girls from Perth. We had offered to take them out for dinner for helping Mark with me the night before. We decided to take them to Enhay Café as this is our favourite place to eat and they had never been here before. Three of us started with spring rolls while the other had a mixed salad, we followed this by one of us have steak, one having chicken teriyaki, one having fillet snapper and myself having cap cay and rice. Two of us had a small bintang while the other two had a coke. Yes I was on the coke. Total bill was 139 500 (AUS $18.60). As usual we just rounded the bill up and paid 150 000 Rp (AUS $20.00)Can you believe how cheap it is? I couldn't feed my dogs for a week for that.
After dinner we headed back to the Bounty and decided on a couple of cocktails at the swim up pool bar as they had two for the price of one. Yes I did have a cocktail, well two actually but must admit they did not go down real well. Mark and I went back to our room at about 10.30 pm to go to bed.
Cheers
