Had a phone call from Qantas on Friday to say they have cancelled the direct flights from Perth to Denpasar Dec 31 returning Jan 12. Booked my daughter the flight using my FF points so she could be with us for New Year in Bali. We are going with a group earlier with Garuda)

They have offered a flight the day after but via Singapore. 3hr 15 flight against 11 hour + flight with 2-3 hours transit. Other thing is as daughter young does'nt like the idea of travelling by herself and she is not very cluey with process to be in transit in Singapore.

Needless to say this does'nt work well as she needs to be back on 12th Jan not 13th and really wanted to be in Bali for New Year. She can not change her holidays at work so is committed to these dates. With the accommodation already booked and part paid for and travel insurance paid for original dates this doesn't make us very happy.

When on the phone to Quantas I asked them about Qantas liability regarding the accommodation booking and insurance etc, they told me to make a claim against the insurance and if any portion was not covered to get back to them (Qantas). I suppose until I work out what we are going to do this may or may not be a problem.

At this stage undecided whether to cancel altogether and try and book with AP or Garuda.

Does anyone know if Air Paradise or Garuda are still flying on these days Dec 31 Perth to Denpasar, Jan 12 Denpasar to Perth and if so what departure time.

Anyone else travelling on these days that have also been effected?
