Day 10 - Saturday 21st October
Well after such a big day yesterday Mark had to wake me up at 9.15 am so we could get organised for breakfast. We went down to the hotel restaurant for the buffet breakfast and then returned to our room to shower, dress and prepare for the day ahead. Today was to be a more relaxing day as we were exhausted after yesterday. Not just physically but emotionally. Mark spent the morning checking DVD's in the room. I went off to pick up our laundry from Gede's laundry and off course a little more shopping. Walked up to the Kodak shop on the corner of Poppies II and Jalan Legian to order some reprints from yesterday's school visit for Made to take up to the school and also for Wayan, our new Balinese son. I had an enlargement done of the shot of both Mark and myself with all the kids and the one of myself with the teacher and all the kids for the school. I also had all the other school photos reprinted for the school and any with Wayan and/or his family reprinted to give to him. All up for 38 reprints and two enlargements it was only 38 500 Rp (AUS $5.13). While there I also ordered another gold plated heart pendant with photo etching of both of our girls on it from the Face to Face stand here for 295 000 Rp (AUS $39.33). Paid them a 100 000 Rp (AUS $13.33) with the balance to be paid when I collected the order the next day. I had received a text yesterday to say that our two girls also wanted us to get them a hat badge each for some new hats their grandmother had just bought for them. Was able to also pick these up within the Kodak store for 26 000 Rp (AUS $3.47) each.
From here I walked down Jalan Legian to Poppies I. I needed to go to the fairy costume shop here to buy some costumes for our youngest daughter and a few of our nieces and nephews. Bought 2 spiderman costumes including the mask 35 000 Rp (AUS $4.67), a fairy costume (which was apparently a new style made in new material) 50 000 Rp (AUS $6.67), a cinderella dress 45 000 Rp (AUS $6.00), two fairy wands, one for 10 000 Rp (AUS $1.33) and the other for 15 000 Rp (AUS $2.00), and a tiara 30 000 Rp (AUS $4.00).
From here I headed back towards Jalan Legian. I stopped in at another stall and bought a large brown with pink flowers LV makeup case 80 000 Rp (AUS $10.67) and from another stall picked up 3 packets of 10 wooden pencils with animals etc on the top of them for one of our daughters class mates for 40 000 Rp (AUS $5.33).
From here I headed back to the Kodak store on the beginning of Poppies II to pick up the photo reprints. While there I also bought a wooden painted Bali surfboard on a stand for our oldest daughter's teacher 30 000 Rp (AUS $4.00) and a miniature wooden painted guitar in a case on a stand for our eldest daughter (she is learning to play the guitar) 85 000 Rp (AUS $11.33). It was time to head back to our room and unload all this shopping.
We decided it was a good time to head off for lunch. Once again we opted to head for Enhay Café on Jalan Benesari. Mark and I both started with spring rolls 8 000 Rp (AUS $1.07) each. Mark then chose the fillet snapper 25 000 Rp (AUS $3.33) which he washed down with a small bintang 7 000 Rp (AUS $0.93). I decided on chilli con carne 25 000 Rp (AUS $3.33) and also had 2 arak attacks 7 500 Rp (AUS $1.00) each. The total bill came to a whopping 75 500 Rp (AUS $10.07) for which we paid them 80 000 Rp (AUS $10.67). Gee I wish we could eat this well and for such a small price back home.
In the stall across from Enhay Café I bought a bintang tank top for Mark 30 000 Rp (AUS $4.00) and a brown with pink flowers cigarette case 30 000 Rp (AUS $4.00). On the way back to the hotel I bought a small Bali photo album for 25 000 Rp (AUS $3.33) to put the photos in for Wayan. I also bought myself a pair of Reebok sneakers 120 000 Rp (AUS $16.00).
It was now time to head back to our hotel to relax around the pool and have a swim. Mark had a small bintang while I had a jug of jungle juice at the swim up pool bar for 87 725 Rp (AUS $11.70) including service charge and tax. After a while we decided it was time to head back to our room and have a nanna nap.
We didn't wake up until 6 pm and then decided it was time to head out for some dinner. We walked up Poppies II and opted to dine at Ratu Restaurant. Mark chose to have the Ratu special pizza 30 000 Rp (AUS $4.00) with a coke 4 500 Rp (AUS $0.60) while I settled for a ham, cheese and tomato jaffle (I wasn't very hungry) 12 500 Rp (AUS $1.67) with a coke. The total bill came to 51 500 Rp (AUS $6.87) for which we gave them 55 000 Rp (AUS $7.33).
From here we got a blue cab to Matahari to top up my sim card as after a few calls back home to our girls it was getting low. Decided to top it up with another 100 000 Rp (AUS $13.33). While at the mobile phone stand Mark was browsing at the stand next to it. He ended up buying a small pair of binoculars (I have no idea why he needs these, I don't think he does either) 130 000 Rp (AUS $17.33) and 2 boxes of Bali balloons for our two girls 20 000 Rp each (AUS $2.67).
We then took a walk down Jalan Kartika Plaza where at Jenny's shop (opposite the Green Garden Hotel) I bought a small fairy costume for one of our nieces 25 000 Rp (AUS $3.33). A little further up but on the same side I bought a small pink LV makeup case for our youngest daughter 50 000 Rp (AUS $6.67) and a medium sized pink LV makeup case for our oldest daughter 60 000 Rp (AUS $8.00).
We had decided that we would like to do a cycling tour and an elephant ride tomorrow so headed to Bali sightseeing (stand next to Pandan Restaurant opposite the Discovery Mall) to book a day tour with Nyomen. We actually ended up booking with Nyomen's brother, Wayan as it was Nyomen's day off. For both of us including transport and lunch it was 1 400 000 Rp (AUS $186.67).
We headed back to the Bounty Hotel where Mark went back to our room and I quickly ducked out on Poppies II to buy some shorts for myself for the cycling tour tomorrow. I ended up buying one pair of shorts for 30 000 Rp (AUS $4.00), another pair for 25 000 Rp (AUS $3.33) and 2 tank tops for 25 000 Rp (AUS $3.33) each. I also bought another pink LV trolley suitcase for our other daughter for 210 000 Rp (AUS $28.00). It was now definitely time to head back to the room for an earlyish night in preparation for another big day tomorrow.
Cheers
