Day 7 - Wednesday 19th October

Had an even bigger sleep in today. Neither of us woke up until 9 am which was lovely. Had rained a bit overnight again. Headed to the hotel restaurant for breakfast. Had what was becoming the ritual breakfast. Mark had his usual two fried eggs with bacon, toast, orange juice and coffee while I once again had an omelette with ham, tomato, mushroom, and cheese, toast and orange juice. The omelette's here are fantastic. I wasn't to realise how good they were until we changed hotels.

After breakfast we headed back to our room to finish checking DVD's. The rain started coming down in buckets again at about 11.30 am. We were starting to wonder what had happened to all that sun we were looking forward to. At this rate we were destined to return home whiter than we left.

We gave our 4 favourite staff a plastic shopping bag with a couple of colouring in books, pencils, soaps, toothpaste, toothbrushes, bubble blowers, super bouncy balls, clip on koalas, yoyo's, small cars, snap card packs, woollen knitted beanies etc to take to their villages and share with all the kids there. We had already given them all gifts for their own children. They were all very grateful but we felt it was the least we could do considering how lucky our two girls are compared to these kids.

At about 12.30 pm Ayu and Ketut came to our room and dressed Mark in traditional Balinese costume and I then took photos. We then went for a walk toward Kuta. Bought Mark two pairs of sneakers at Black and White Sport on Jalan Kartika Plaza. One pair was 100 000 Rp (AUS $13.33) and the other pair were 130 000 Rp (AUS $17.33). Neither of them are the usual Nike or such brand names but we are not into brand names so much so just happy to get some decent ones. Makes a change from the holy pairs he had prior to this trip. While here I also bought a brown with pink flowers LV purse 40 000 Rp (AUS $5.33). It has two zippered compartments. We then proceeded down Jalan Kartika Plaza where we stopped at Yan's Cafe for lunch. Mark once again had spring rolls 12 500 Rp (AUS $1.67) followed by calamari 31 000 Rp (AUS $4.13) with a coke 5 500 Rp (AUS $ 0.73) while I had grilled prawns in garlic butter 42 000 Rp (AUS $5.60) with a coke. The prawns came out whole and in the shells so it was very messy to eat but very yummy.

After lunch we continued on down Jalan Kartika Plaza where Mark bought a pair of Levi 501's from a stall next to Sakura for 130 000 (AUS $17.33) and I bought a brown with pink flowers LV large roll type overnight bag for 100 000 Rp (AUS $13.33) and a medium size brown with pink flower LV handbag for 60 000 Rp (AUS $8.00).

We then headed back to our room to relax for an hour. At about 4.30pm we headed down to Paddy's 2 to meet up with MsMaggie and family and some friends of theirs for a couple of drinks. Mark had a bintang while I had an arak. The bill came to 40 000 Rp (AUS $5.33) but we paid them 50 000 Rp (AUS $6.67).

We then all decided to head to Warung 96 on Jalan Benesari for tea. Mark had fried chicken special 96 and a Bali Hai while I had nasi goreng special and a Bali Hai. Mark said his chicken was nice however I found my nasi goreng to be a bit dry but it was still edible. Our portion of this bill came to about 60 000 Rp (AUS $8.00) however we just put in 70 000 Rp (AUS $9.33). It was nice to have good company for a meal. Not saying Mark's company is not good but after a week it was nice to have someone else to talk to. After dinner we all went our separate ways. We headed back to our hotel for a relaxing evening on our own.

We enjoyed a couple of duty free bourbons and a DVD. This was our last night at the Bali Prani.

Cheers
