They were not supposed to say that.
The purpose of the meeting was to accept or reject the govt pay offer. It was not a strike. The Govt asked that teachers attend the meeting to vote. But there was a proviso that schools were required to provide adequate supervision. Your children should have gone to school as normal.
If this was not the case I would complain. The teachers pay will be docked if this procedure was not followed.
On a positive side this is a good thing as this is the first time since 1968 that teachers have had a pay rise without industrial action. I'm personally sick of striking to get a fair wage. About time I say. As parents (and teachers) it's nice to know this won't happen again for years.
