We rate the Bali Hyatt Sanur as the best in Bali. It has one of the greatest tropical gardens around. The rooms (like most hotels in Bali) are small but adequate. The Regency Club is a fantastic place to relax and the staff are so friendly - the happy hour(5pm ~ 7pm) is to die for. The Hyatt also has one of the best beaches in Bali. There is absolutely heaps of shade both on the beach and around the pools so you can avoid getting too sun burnt (be really careful with the sun - 20 minutes and your done!) You will also get burnt (from reflected glare)just sitting in the shade.
There are lots of restuarants in Sanur. You may want to catch the little green public bemos to go up to those North of the Hyatt. The bemo cost is only a few thousand Rupiah to travel the whole length of the main drag in Sanua (just shout "stoppa" to get off). Check with the staff in regency Club for what is expected as a fare for tourists. There are great massages to be had on the beach immediately south of the Hyatt. They are done under shelter with reasonable privacy - 50,000Rp for 1 hour is about the going rate.
There is also a great little beach front restuarant a little further south along the beach (I think it is called the Banjar) I can recommend the spagetti bolognaise and chips together with a really cold Bintang! It is so cheap compared to what you pay around the pool at the Hyatt.
A day trip to Lovina for lunch (leaving early in the morning) is one of the best introductions to the real Bali. Your driver will show you all the sites along the way (and they are countless).
When you get bored lying around the pool in the afternoon, take a run over to Kuta for some shopping at the Markets, Kuta square and Legian street.
Have a great holiday!
