Yes, the rooms have been renovated. We stayed in 248 overlooking the pool for the 3rd year in a row. The walls in the main area have been upgraded and redecorated - very well done. They have replaced the old bed bases with new fancy carved bases. The missus still has the bruises on the legs to prove it. They stick out too far. The small table and 2 chairs have ben removed and replaced with a "day lounge". That did not impress us at all. The bathrooms haven't been touched.
The roof on the "Library" was being replaced. That's the reading/sitting area inside the Lotus Pool.
Enjoy your stay - the Rani is still tops.
