There have been warnings like this for god knows how long. I think that the Australian Government does things like this to cover their asses. There are no travel warnings against going to London is there? It can happen anywhere in the world.
Do not wrap yourself up in cotton wool becuase you are scared of what MIGHT happen. Enjoy your life, travel the world, do not let terrorist scare you.
