when you purchase your ticket you have paid for a set luggage limit, 20 kilos for economy and 30 kilos for business/paradise class plus cabin baggage. This is what you have paid for any weight in excess of that cuts into the airlines profit if they just give it to you. If you go over your allowance expect to pay for it, if they let you go consider it a bonus.
