There is a row of ATMs on Jl Dewi Sartika (Sartika Plaza) just North of where I am picturing Ramada Bintang to be. The ATMs are on the otherside of the road and sort of opposite the new Centro shopping centre. They are outside of Waterbom Park, I guess.
Watched the ATMs in general, one swallowed my visa two weeks ago and the performance I had to go through to cancell the card and then obtain a cash advance was regretable and really cost me the last 2 days of my holiday. What I learnt from the experience?
1) Some machines insist on a minimum 6 digit pin code, mine has less. Tried twice then decided to use another machine. Swallowed my card!
2) It is very hard to find somewhere to make a toll free or "call collect" international phone call from, even the bank wouldn't allow me to. The public phones wouldn't either. The hotel was sceptical and then presented me with a bill for 450,000 rp after a relatively short reverse charges call - it took them a full day to find out it had cost them nothing!
