Boy ... do we know where you are coming from. August last year my husband and I headed off to Bali to have a well earned break away from our three children 11, 8 & 5. Our two youngests boys also have autism and I know what you mean about it taking months to plan the simplest things.

WELL .... after falling in love with Bali we are heading off again in October WITH OUR BOYS!!! We aren't entirely mad ... we have organised for a wonderful friend of ours and surrogate 'mum'of our 8 year old who actually speaks fluent indonesian, to join us on the trip. We thought long and hard about where we would stay and we decided that the Tanjung Benoa area is very quiet and relaxing.
The boys were so excited about getting their passports and, although our 8 year old has very little language, he says at least once a day "Bali ... October.... yes" with a big grin on his face.

They boys have flown before and love it, but our only real concern is the arrival at Denpasar airport. We are hoping (with a request to the airlines) that we may be able to somehow fast track the Visa on arrivial queue and customs. Last time we saw parents with young children ushered from the lines and taken to another counter to process their paperwork. We have also decided to pack gameboys for the boys to concerntrate on if they become overwhelmed by the mad taxi drive from the airport to the hotel.

Although we are a little reserved about the trip ... another part of us is so excited about sharing this wonderful experience as a family. Take care of yourselves and make sure you keep planning times to recharge your batteries. I am sure you are doing a wonderful job.
