I have been looking into December rates and you have to travel before the 8th Dec and return after the 10th January to get cheap rates. In between these dates there are no child fares and you add $350 per person to the normal airfare. We don't mind a longer stay in Bali so will probably do the before the 8th and after the 10th because once you are there you can live cheaply. The accomodation between these dates will also be more expensive.
So if it is close to Christmas $3,500 is probably a reasonable price.
