I'm just looking through our receipt and trying to work it all out. The goods we purchased totalled $612. We payed $91 for packing. The total on our visa was $1127 which means we paid an extra $424. Once the goods arrive we also pay another fee of approx. $300. So I guess all up it's around $700. I was originally told that when you're looking at sending stuff home, a good way to judge the cost is to double the amount of the item. This gives you an idea of how much it will cost you once it's been shipped home. Which works out about right if my sums are correct.
