I am heading to Bali in December for the second time, to meet with my amazing artists outside of Ubud that make goods for my business. At the moment we are making a few things from some native indonesian hardwoods, but I'm interested in adding a bit more selection.

I'm wondering if anyone might be able to point me in the right direction in regard to importing exotic hardwoods commonly for sale in the US into Bali in small quantities for carving while I'm there, or possibly regulations about shipping these things directly to them via FedEx.

Also, if anyone has any idea of where to find raw semi-precious stone (tiger eye, obsidian, hematite, jasper, etc) in Bali for carving, I would be delighted to hear it. I have some things of my own I would like made.

Bali is an amazing place, I had such a blast last year, especially around TampakSiring. This year I am taking my fiance and we are staying 12 days instead of 8. I'm sure she's going to bleed my dry looking for fabric and jewelry!

It's a business trip but since I am self employed and much of my business revolves around my artists, it's very flexible. I had an aussie with me last time that spoke Indonesian well and knew his way around. This time I get to do it from memory on a motorbike so it should be interesting. If anyone wants to meet up around Ubud from about Dec 2nd to 12th let me know!
