How did you get Bali fights on points !

How did you manage to get fights to Bali on FF points ?
I have tried without success many times even trying 11 months in advance on one occasion and they had not a single seat available, and that was even when I wasn't fussed about dates and times etc....
Just gave up in the end and used the points for domestic travel.
PS I was using Qantas FF points.
