Use your cards in the ATMs.. commission free. Check with your bank to see what charges apply. My credit union applies no charges. All of the street money changers in Bali are dodgy scammers. Save yourself the grief use your card... ATMs everywhere. Everyone uses them. Ive never had a problem and used them on 2 trips numerous times. Just make sure you wait for your card to be returned from the machine becuase unlike in Australia the card is returned last!
