I booked a hotel in Kuala Lumpur for Sept. AsiaRooms confirmed the booking and debited my credit card. That was back in January. Then last month I had an e-mail saying that the hotel had different rates for UK customers. They asked if I would agree to the extra charge (about £36, not much I know, but...). They also said that the hotel offered a 'free' upgrade to a room with a better view if I paid the extra. Strange as I'd already got the room they were offering anyway. I paid, cos it's too close to going to start faffing about trying to get my money back and find somewhere else. But, I did ask them on what grounds the hotel felt it necessary to charge UK customers differently, and what right did they have to advertise one price, accept a booking on that basis AND take your money, and then up the price. I found nothing in the terms and conditions about this being possible. AR said they'd passed my e-mail on to the hotel, but I've not heard a dickie bird from anyone since. You have to laugh tho...seems I won't be needing a room with a view in a posh hotel in any case if the smog doesn't clear!!
