Take cash - don't change here. If you need money for transport in Bali from the airport, change a small amount only. Airport exchange rates are not very good, exchange rates here aren't as good as those in Bali.
Take a card for ATM for emergency. When changing money, only change as much as you need. If you see something you want to buy, you can always go back and buy it if you have not enough money - less money to use or have stolen in the worse case scenario.
Leave your cash in a safety deposit box in the hotel.
