Been back at work 1 week and I can tell you I would rather have bali belly and be in bali than be here Its too cold! Anyway. I had a great time in bali and I will go again. I would like to thank all the forumites for their advice on this site it came in handy and I honestly used a lot of advice. We arrived in bali and were taken by bus to the terminals where we paid out $25 american for our visa, lined up in another line, (very hot and humid inside)waited for over an hour to get through to get our bags. Once we got through we were faced with alot of men with PORTER written on their shirts we thought they were there to help which they were but for a cost which we did not realise! They were just trying to earn a buck but no one mentioned this on the site and when you are faced with them straight away you are just so unsure of what to do with yourself if it's your first time in bali, so we pointed to our bags etc and they just took off with them! It was very frightening...So we ended up taking posesstion of our bags again and paid them whatever we could find and found our transfer (wombat from freestyle tours) fantastic! He was very friendly great english and gave us fantastic advice all the way to the hotel which took 20 min.

We arrrived at the Alum Kul Kul boutique resort and were pleasently surprised. It looked exactly like the pictures! It was just lovely, great atmosphere and great staff so friendly and helpful. We did the necessary paperwork etc passports and credit cards etc for rooms and then were taken to our rooms. The rooms were lovely too, our room was 2203 up only one level of stairs. We had our own balcony looking over the smaller pool of the 2 in the hotel. Big bed that was VERY comfortable. Tv, mini bar tea and coffe etc and most importantly complimentary water. They turn the beds down at about 5-6pm and clean the rooms around 9-10. They do such a great job. The only thing I could suggest is they do renovate the bathrooms but hey they werent that bad. Went to the balcony bar to have our free drink on arrival. It was just lovely sitting on the balcony looking over to the water of kuta beach having a nice cool drink. Everyone was pretty tired from all the travel etc so we were all just soaking it up. The weather was a warm 30 odd degrees during the day and cooled down during the evening to 25ish but always with a nice breeze, just like melb on a hot day with the cool change coming through..FANTASTIC. Had dinner at Papas Cafe I had Nachos yum, and my friends shared a seafood platter which was fantastic too. The service was impeccable. Then went for a nice long walk with my fiance' down towards the matahari etc, just to see what the shops had etc. He was offered every drug under the sun and also women (jiggy jig)! Oh well. Obviously didnt take them up on the offers. There are lots of people handing out flyers just say NO! Especially on the corner into the matahari street, they are trying to sell timeshare and will hassle you at your hotel etc after you give them your details etc. We didn't but got warned of this. Walked back and watched some telly and went to bed..very tired. Our first day in bali, relaxed already! will continue soon...
