So please everybody be especially nice to the the flight attendants who decided to not strike, even though their salary/benefits package is much lower than industry standards.
Yes, Garuda is in trouble. Yes, it was a bad time for industrial action to ask for higher wages.
But the decision to strike did NOT come from the people you are likely to be dealing with. The people you see are those most responsible for there NOT being a strike.
There were some concessions made (or at least promised to be looked into), and I hope these benefits actually happen and filter down to the people we directly deal with.
I have had nothing but excellent on-flight service from Garuda (though I can't say the same for the entire organisation -- no major gripes, though).
I urge everyone flying with Garuda to bring a small gift of appreciation for the flight attendants who work hard for bugger all to make your flight more comfortable, and who were willing to ignore the order to strike so that you could still have the holiday you saved for.
