You mentioned cancelling bookings at hotels, which interested me greatly! Have been wondering what, if anything, I can do on our upcoming Bali trip if I turn up at a hotel I've booked and don't like it, or find it unsuitable for my kids. Hadn't you paid some kind of deposit on the rooms you cancelled? How did you book these rooms, and did you lose any money by cancelling?
Re dogs - I do share your feelings about dogs! And must say have had a few 'daydreams' myself recently about ways to deal with them on our upcoming trip. Was last in Bali early 90's, and my then-9 yr old was bitten by a dog at an art shop in Mas, not serious but required a hospital trip 'just to be sure', and a tetanus jab on return home. Luckily that son loved and still loves dogs, but the two I'm travelling with this time (4 and 9 yrs) are already quite frightened of dogs as it is, and I'm no fan myself as I said. Not looking forward to having to deal with that side of the trip, planning to do lots of walking - are stun guns or mace legal in Bali??? Yea, wouldn't a 'doggy zapper' be a welcome invention!
